It’s our 40th wedding anniversary today! Wow!
Today we left the basic comforts of our accommodation in Queenstown to head to Mount Cook. It was another long drive for Adrienne, taking us north to Cromwell and Twizel. We stopped a few times to take in the views, but the most spectacular has to be the view of Mount Cook as we drove up the western side of Lake Pukaki. With blue skies behind it it was stunning.

As we entered Mount Cook village we stopped to do a 2 hour walk to Red Tarns. It was steep, but a good track, with lots of steps too, and at the top there was an even better view of Mount Cook.

It was then only a 5 minute drive to our accommodation for the night - a bunk house which was comfortable and well kitted out and with a large window looking towards Mount Cook and the glaciers. There was a lovely sunset that evening that made the mountain glow red. With that, a delicious chicken curry and some bubbly, a very convivial evening was enjoyed by all. It certainly was an anniversary to remember.
