Anne was busy today so Joe arrived at breakfast time to take us out for the day. It was good to see him again after a lot of years and again there was lots to catch up on.
Joe drove us out of town heading to the Swan Valley. We stopped off in Guildford for coffee. This used to be a small town outside Perth, in an agricultural area, but is now part of suburbia. There were lots of coffee shops to choose from and also antique shops, which made us smile as antiques here are not as old as ours!
From there it was onto a winery in the Swan Valley, where we were able to take a walk down to the river. It was a glorious day, blue sky and sunshine and comfortably warm. The river here is still fairly wide and bordered by gum trees. Very peaceful and pleasant to be in.

The observant among you will notice that whilst Geoff is in shorts and a T-shirt, Joe is still wearing a jacket! 25 degrees is cool for him!! He removed it when we went back to the winery to have lunch!
There were loads of people sitting on the benches, or on the grass on picnic blankets, children were running around playing, there were tables where people were celebrating birthdays, a guy was setting up for live music and it was all very convivial. We sat for quite a long time over our lunch before driving back to Perth.

Joe took us on a drive around the city so that we could get our bearings for when we get to our hotel in a couple of days. And then back home where we all had dinner together. A lovely day!
