Today we moved on from Anne’s to a hotel in central Perth. Staying at Anne’s was a real treat and we were made to feel so at home and comfortable. It was hard saying goodbye.

We took the train into the central station then made our way to the hotel. Our room is on the 11th floor and gives us clear views of the WACA. It’s just a shame there is no cricket on at the moment! On another side we look over the river. It’s just a pity that most of the time you are in your room you are asleep!

Our next task was to sort out what we were going to do over the next couple of days. This involved a walk down to Elizabeth Quay as we wanted to look into booking a trip to Rottnest Island.

The bell tower that houses a set of bells from St Martin-in-the-fields and donated by the British government in 1988. The oldest bell dates back to 1550.

This done we then explored the downtown area of the city, ending up at the Art Gallery of Western Australia. As is so often the case I don’t really get why some pieces of art are so classified! However there were some interesting pieces of work, but very little that I would put on my wall at home!
